The actual name that was coined for his line was created by his wife Lubova, who felt that the popular French phrase “bon chic, bon genre which translates into good style, good attitude, most aptly described what they were aspiring to in their creations. When Max Azria won California Designer of the Year award in 1996 the world took notice. However; when he subsequently netted Atlanta’s Fashion Designer of the Year in 1997 it set a new precedent.
